Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN) is a common skin condition that primarily affects individuals with a darker skin tone. It is characterised by the appearance of small, harmless, brown or black bumps on the face, neck, and occasionally other parts of the body. Despite being harmless, these papules can cause significant cosmetic concerns for those affected. 

Although DPN is more common in darker-skinned individuals, it can also affect lighter-skinned individuals. The condition is more prevalent in women than men, and there may be a hormonal component involved, as it often worsens during pregnancy or with hormonal fluctuations.

What Causes Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra?

The exact cause of dermatosis papulosa nigra is still unknown, but it is believed to be influenced by both genetic and environmental factors.
