Amazing Acne Results!

Updated: Feb 16, 2019

One of the most common concerns we help our clients with here at Eterno is acne, both in its active form and the scarring it can leave to the skin. For many people, suffering with active acne can not only be painful, but also embarrassing and debilitating. We recognise this, and that is why at Eterno we are passionate about helping people overcome these obstacles, working together to get results and restore confidence.

Recently, we have achieved some fantastic results for one of our clients who is undergoing acne treatment that I wanted to share with you.

When this client came to see us, she had been living with acne for many years but had never really known the right steps to take to treat it. Being a young girl in education, she was highly conscious of it and with aspirations of being on the stage, felt limited to what she could achieve. She was one call away from looking into a medical alternative but upon consultation, was happy and excited to proceed with the proposed acne management programme.

As you will see from the starting photograph, inflammation and redness was apparent. This meant a specific route of treatments was required, also incorporating specially formulated skin products to first help calm the inflammation.

I initially recommended x2 IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatments, taken 4 weeks apart. This treatment was chosen because being a new client, we first needed to establish the tolerance of her skin before higher grade treatments could be performed. This light-based treatment has significant anti-inflammatory benefits. The light emitted by the IPL machine is transmitted into the skin and attracted to haemoglobin (redness caused by restricted blood flow), so over time the skin’s tone becomes more even, giving a brighter complexion. The client’s skin reacted well to the treatment, and having been able to fully assess the skin’s reaction it was time to move to a more penetrative treatment solution in order to speed up the results process.

My next recommendation was a course of x6 Power Pumpkin Resurfacer treatments, which are designed to meet the needs of those with acne concerns and enlarged pores. Containing active agents such as Salicylic, Lactic and Glycolic acid, a much deeper skin penetration could be achieved, thereby accelerating results. The anti-bacterial effect of this treatment helps to prevent and treat acne for those prone to breakouts or experiencing perimenopause, as well as relieving post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation to improve skin tone and texture. As this treatment exfoliates away layers of the epidermis, mild flaking can be apparent. The client reported that this lasted no longer than 5 days, but the experience can be different from person to person.

The end photograph was taken after three Power Pumpkin Resurfacer treatments, and we were thrilled with the results being seen (as was the client!). The dramatic skin improvements were noticed by her family and friends. Since this photograph, a further three Resurfacer treatments have been performed and the client will end this part of her programme with a Modified Jessners Chemical Peel. This peel was designed to comprehensively manage acne, preventing persistent breakouts and calming current blemishes. It was important that before this chemical peel is performed, the health of the client’s skin was improved and regulated. Due to this treatment containing the powerful agent ‘Resorcinol’, it penetrates through the Stratum Corneum straight to the active inflammation, creating and enabling long lasting, permanent improvements.

At the start of January, we will assess progress and if happy, we will then proceed to treat any acne scarring with the use of micro-needle therapy ‘DermaRoller’ treatments.

Throughout this process we have recommended that the client uses a soothing aloe vera cleanser daily in order to gently clean the skin, as well as a zinc based sunscreen to protect further acne being induced.
