Who are Dermal Filler treatments performed by?
Dermal filler treatments at Eterno Skin Clinic are performed only by qualified nurse practitioners. Our resident nurse is a highly experienced practitioner who, before moving into the aesthetics sector, worked for nine years on an A&E ward, rising to the position of Sister. During this time she gained a wide range of needle techniques, and she then trained in aesthetic practice in London under two of the industry's leading doctors.
What results can be expected?
The results seen with dermal fillers are immediate and the side effects are minor; there may be some localised redness and/or swelling and occasionally, bruising around the injection site. These side effects usually resolve within a few days.
How long will my Dermal Fillers last?
Treatment with dermal fillers is not permanent. The duration of effect depends on a number of factors such as age, quality of the skin, where the filler is placed, and how much filler is injected. However, the effect of most treatments generally lasts for up to one year before re-treatment is necessary.
Are Dermal Filler injections safe?
Yes, when the filler injections are performed correctly by an experienced practitioner they are regarded as a very safe aesthetic procedure. Bad reactions to Hyaluronic Acid are exceptionally rare. During the first consultation prior to treatment, your Nurse Practitioner will take note of your medical history and any allergies to ensure dermal fillers are right for you.
Can Dermal Fillers be used alongside Anti-Wrinkle Injections?
Yes. Dermal filler gels break down naturally over a period of five to ten months and can be used independently as a highly effective anti-wrinkle treatment, or safely alongside Botox®, and in most cases in the same session as required. Fillers are injected under the skin whereas Botox® is injected into the muscle. As a clinical anti ageing treatment, a combination of both dermal fillers and strategically placed Botox® injections are hard to beat for facial rejuvenation and removing wrinkles from ageing skin.
Which areas can be treated?
Dermal filler can be placed directly into the upper and lower lips in order to give a fuller, more plump effect. Alternatively, filler may be placed into the vermillion border of the lips, giving them a more defined edge.
In addition to lip augmentation, dermal filler can also be used to soften nasolabial folds (smile lines), to lift marionette lines (jowls) and to contour and volumise other areas of the face in order to improve definition, such as the cheeks and chin areas. Our nurse is also proficient at applying filler to the tear trough area (under the eyes), which is susceptible to loss of volume and wrinkling, as well as the hands.
Local anaesthetic cream may be applied to the area prior to treatment in order the reduce any discomfort during the procedure. The placement of filler takes about 20 minutes, and the effects are noticeable immediately. The effects usually last for up to six months, but further filler may be placed at any time.
